The Cougars paid off their close losses to Mississippi and Virginia with a nice, comfortable win over Toledo at home. The fantastic defense and serviceable offense have us feeling pretty great about what the rese of the season will hold, including when the Cougs travel to Corvallis on Saturday to take on Oregon State.
Plus: what we're drinking and quick previews of men's and women's basketball, which tip off their seasons on Monday.

The bye week has come and gone, and now the WSU Cougars steel themselves for what is the toughest non-Pac-12 test in 20 years: A trip to Oxford, Mississippi, to take on No. 4 Ole Miss. The oddsmakers expect it to get ugly, and honestly? We do too ... although we wouldn't be surprised Lane Kiffin's crew was still basking in the glory of a win over LSU and looking ahead to next week's game against Georgia. Is it enough for the Cougs to make a game out of it?
Plus: Thoughts on OSU's seemingly disastrous NIL partnership, what we're drinking, soccer, volleyball, and cross country.

Following two weeks of abject embarrassment, the WSU Cougars redeemed themselves to a pretty good degree with a convincing win over the Colorado State Rams. The defense was excellent, giving up just three points; the offense, while inconsistent, did more than enough in the first half for the team to cruise to victory. It was a good feeling!
Plus: What we're drinking, soccer, volleyball, and cross country.

The Washington State Cougars literally could not stop the Washington Huskies for 60 minutes, leading to a blowout. Coming on the heels of an embarrassing loss to North Texas, where does that leave WSU? At least the offense looked pretty ok under new QB Zevi Eckhaus.
Plus: Previewing this week against Colorado State (really need to win it!), what we're drinking, soccer, volleyball, and cross country.

The Washington State Cougars rebounded from a shaky win over Idaho in the opener to leave no doubt in a win over San Diego State to improve to 2-0 on the season, as the defense led the way again. With Jeff out tending to family matters, Emma Weightman ably steps in to cohost with Craig!
Plus: Beer sales are coming to the stadium, a quick preview of North Texas, what we're drinking, soccer, volleyball, and cross country.

The Washington State Cougars opened up their 2025 football with a win over Idaho ... and that's about the best we can say about it. The offense struggled mightily under new QB Jaxon Potter, but we sure wouldn't blame it on him. Thank goodness for the defense!
Plus: A quick preview of San Diego State, beer, soccer, volleyball, and cross country.

The Washington State Cougars open up their 2025 football campaign on Saturday by hosting Idaho. We don't know a damn thing about the roster because ... well ... that's the nature of college sports these days. But we do know what new coach Jimmy Rogers is bringing to the table, which has got us fired up to enter a new era in Pullman.
Plus: What the hell is up with being unable to get beer sales in the stadium? And a quick check in on beer, soccer, and volleyball.

Both of WSU's basketball teams got bounced out of their WCC tournaments over a week ago, but their seasons aren't yet over as both teams have found postseason tournaments in which to play: The men will play in the College Basketball Crown, a 16-team tournament in Las Vegas at the end of the month, while the women will take part in the WNIT starting next week.
Some might question the value of continuing these seasons. Not us -- we think more basketball is great! Especially for these two teams.

The WCC tournaments are this weekend, and they mean different things for WSU's men's and women's basketball teams.
For the men, it's one last chance to put the bad taste of that no good, awful five-week stretch that tanked all the vibes around a good start. They played pretty decently in their final two games of the regular season, securing the WCC's No. 6 seed. And with the way the tournament is set up, they could win a game -- or two.
For the women, it's entirely different: They have a legitimate shot to win the whole thing. That would mean winning another showdown with Portland, but there are reasons to think that could break the Cougs' way in a third matchup.
Other topics:
Beer: Jeff — Coffee Oatmeal Stout (Stemma); Jamey — Red Chair NWPA (Deschutes).
Football: Spring practices have arrived! Jamey gives a first-hand account of what he saw and how things look a little different under Jimmy Rogers than they did under the previous coach.

It was truly a weekend of pain for WSU men’s basketball.
In one of the most anticipated games in Beasley Coliseum in years, the Washington State Cougars laid an absolute dud against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in front of a sold-out crowd, losing by 21 last Wednesday. Not to be outdone — and proving there is actually no floor — they then went out to Beasley again on Saturday and turned in an even worse performance against Santa Clara, losing by 30.
Getting outscored by 51 on your home floor in consecutive games doesn’t leave podcasters a whole lot to talk about.
And frankly, it’s the kind of stuff that gets coaches fired. Sooooo …….
Should we start having a conversation about David Riley? Even though he’s not even done with his first season?
That’s where we kick off the show this week.
Other topics:
Beer: Jeff — Galaxy Pilsner (Slow Hand); Jamey — Non-alcoholic seltzer!
Football: Spring practices are actually pretty close! Let’s talk about the offensive line, where two guys return and the rest of the spots are up for grabs.
Women’s hoops: The Cougs are headed for the No. 3 seed in the WCC tournament after picking up a pair of wins last weekend.
